BUSINESS LICENSES

You're ready to start your business and know you need a license, so here's what you need to do to get started:

1. Get your State of Washington Master License and City of Sumner license. You can take care of this all in one easy step. Follow the link to the State's page and use the directions to complete your State Master License and your City of Sumner license. Get started þ

NOTE! The State has informed us that the Business Licensing Service (BLS) will move all online licensing systems from the Department of Licensing to the Department of Revenue. This means the online service will be unavailable for a period of time.

When is this happening?

Online systems will be taken down at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, May 18 and brought back up on Monday, May 21.

What can I expect?

It’s important that business owners finish partially completed applications or renewals before May 18, as the information will be deleted during the move and the applicant will have to start over.

Can I still submit paper applications or renewals during this time?

Yes. This outage only affects online applications and renewals. Paper applications and renewals will be processed without interruption. However, the State encourages online processing. The online licensing systems will be down for a very short time period. It is still quicker to wait until the online licensing systems are back up than to mail it into the Business Licensing Service.

2. Fill out a Waste Water Discharge Pre-Form D. All businesses that have a facility located in Sumner need to fill this form out. A few will need to continue with more detailed forms, and if that is required based on your information on this form, we'll let you know. For most businesses, this form is all that is required.
