PASSPORTS

 

WHEN DO I NEED A PASSPORT?
Travelers to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico and Canada will be required to have a passport or other secure, accepted document to enter or re-enter the United States.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

For more detailed instructions, please visit the Passport Service website at http://travel.state.gov/passport/ or call the National Passport Information Center at 1-877-487-2778. þ

 

  • All persons applying for a new passport must appear in person, including children.

  • Children 15 years or younger are required to have both parents present for processing passport applications. If only one parent can appear, that parent must present evidence of sole custody or have the absent parent complete and notarize form DS-3053, Statement of Consent, to be submitted with that child's application.

 

To apply for a passport

You must present all of the following items:

  • Completed application form DS-11. Available at the Court office or on-line at http://travel.state.gov/passport/ þ

  • Two identical 2" x 2" passport photos.

  • Certified birth certificate (not certificate of birth from hospital). If born outside the U.S., a Certificate of Naturalization, Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certificate of Citizenship is required. Original documents only – no photocopies. Some helpful links:

  • Photo identification ( i.e. driver's license, state ID card or military identification)

FEES & PROCESSING SCHEDULE FOR PASSPORT BOOK
Payment must be made at the time of application.

 

Passport application fees for a passport book:

 

For individuals 16 & older: $110 check to US Dept. of State and $25 check to City of Sumner

 

For individuals 15 & younger: $80 check to US Dept. of State and $25 check to City of Sumner

For individuals 16 & older: $30 check to US Dept. of State and $25 check to City of Sumner

 

For individuals 15 & younger: $15 check to US Dept. of State and $25 check to City of Sumner

 

About the process

Payment must be by checks or money orders, and two separate checks are required per application made payable as listed in the fee schedule.

 

Passports on average take 4-6 weeks.

 

Expedited Service

If you need faster processing of your passport, you can pay an Expedited Service fee of $60 (in addition to the regular application fee), and the Passport Service will process your application within two to three weeks of receipt. However, you must also allow for regular mail service delivery time. You may also wish to pay an additional fee for overnight delivery to decrease total processing time.
