SUMNER POLICE DEPARTMENT

EXPLORER PROGRAM

Are you 15-20 years old and thinking about a career in law enforcement?  A great place to start is by being an Explorer with the Sumner Police Department.

Through the Explorer program, you get an understanding of the profession.  You help provide crowd and traffic control at special events, participate in anti-drug and crime prevention programs for children at elementary schools, and become a positive role model.  And, you interact with career police officers and support personnel to get a good idea of what the job is like.  You get special training and can even attend local and regional competitive events for Explorers.

Law Enforcement Explorer programs are sponsored by many law enforcement agencies throughout the United States.  Across the nation, over 39,000 young people are involved in over 1,900 Explorer programs.
