SUMNER POLICE DEPARTMENT PERMIT TO POSSESS A FIREARM--NEW APPLICATION
(If you live outside the City Limits of Sumner, you will be directed to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department or the city agency where you reside.)
STEP (1) Read and follow all instructions of this packet carefully. (PDF) Any questions regarding the application should be answered in the following pages.
STEP (2) You must be fingerprinted before we can begin processing your application. More about fingerprinting.
Once your prints have been taken, they will be sent to Washington State Patrol Identification Section. If your prints are deemed unclassifiable you will be notified and will need to come back to be reprinted.
STEP (3) When you come in to have your fingerprints done please bring completed application to the Sumner Police Department. Processing of your application may take a few weeks to complete. When your CPL has been processed, it will be mailed directly to you.
The cost of the permit is $55.25 (non-refundable) Cash or check only, payable to City of Sumner which is due on the day you get your fingerprints taken. The permit is valid for five (5) years.
