If not pouring rain or icy, the street sweeper follows this general schedule and route:
Thursdays, 8 am - 4:30 pm neighborhoods

Friday, start at 2 am, arterials, Main Street and parking lots 

When leaves fall, every chance we can get, Monday through Friday!

What can you do to help?

There are things you can do to help make sure the sweeper can successfully clean in front of your home or business.  Keep tree branches pruned back and up so that they don't scrape the sweeper.  Also, if you park your car on the street, try parking it elsewhere on Thursdays or Fridays (depending on where you live) so that the sweeper does not have to swerve around your car and leave that section of the street unswept.

Why do you sweep in the middle of the night?

Two reasons: first, many drivers don't like being stuck behind the sweeper on arterials and there are, of course, less drivers on the road in the middle of the night.  Second, the sweeper is another pair of eyes on our streets to help notify police if they see anything out of the ordinary when most everyone else is asleep.
