LODGING TAX
Hotels in Sumner charge collect from guests a lodging tax that is to be used by the community to increase tourism by bringing new visitors from more than 50 miles away or generate overnight stays. The overall goal is to continually increase the tourism industry that, in turn, supports lodging, shopping and dining.

Key Dates (all located at City Hall) October 28, 2011 at 2 pm -- Informal meeting available to applicants who would like to ask questions, Council Chambers November 10, 2011 at 4 pm -- Grant applications due as timed by City Clerk's clock. No late applications will be accepted. November 18, 2011 at 1:30 pm -- Applicant presentations to advisory committee, city will schedule specific times with applicants. Committee makes funding recommendations to City Council for approval. January 2012 -- Council reviews recommendations and makes funding decisions.
